Risk of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer, a German doctor is a kind of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Many people are having trouble with memory but it doesn’t mean that they have this kind of disease. There are many different causes of Alzheimer’s disease, if someone you know who is experiencing symptoms of dementia, the best way is to visit a doctor or specialist who can determine its cause.

One of the most common signs of Alzheimer’s disease is memory loss, especially forgetting important dates or events, recently learned information, asking the same information over and over.  Alzheimer’s slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, this may cause the patient to carry out the simplest tasks. Most people who suffer this kind of disease may experience symptoms after the age of 65. However, medication, environmental influences, and some medical conditions also can cause symptoms or make them worse.  Adapting the living situation to the needs of a person with Alzheimer’s is an important part of any treatment plan. For someone with Alzheimer’s, establishing and strengthening routine habits and minimizing memory-demanding tasks can make life much easier. Exercise can also promote restful sleep and prevent constipation. Make sure that the person with Alzheimer’s carries identification if unaccompanied.

Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s but drug and non-drug treatments may help with both cognitive and behavioral symptoms.  Family support is the most important way to help prevent this kind of disease. If your love ones, a friend or someone you know experiencing symptoms of dementia convince them to see a specialist who can help them fight for this kind of disease.
